FORM
I explored on adding verbs to one single block. First, I merge two blocks together. Then, I subtracted a small cube from one of the rectangles. I connected the two rectangles with a ramp so that they wouldn't seem so detached. Finally, I intruded a triangle to the base because I was interested on how that would look from different angles. I wanted to add a lot of activity to the cube, so that people keep turning it around and seeing new verbs.
ENCLOSURE
I design a rest stop for a inclined topography. This project was the first time that I considered topography in the design of the building, which was a vital part of the design. I created a little seating area that faces the incline, to focus on the end point of the trail. I also laser cut a camouflage pattern that emulates a natural, leaf-like shadow.
SOCIAL SPACE
The function of this building is to provide a social space for a neighborhood in southwestern Detroit. I blocked out the programs with a focus on separating the multipurpose rooms into food, athletic, and gathering sections. Although they are seperated, the two different floors are connected by two sky lights, so that in the end, all of the multipurpose rooms are still 'touching'.
